MANSFIELD (FIELD MILL) GREYHOUND STADIUM

The Nottinghamshire market town of Mansfield has had 3 greyhounds tracks in the past, the earliest to open being at Field Mill on Quarry Lane. The track was situated at 1° 12' W 53° 8' N, built around the perimeter of the towns Football Club and the inaugural meeting was held on 26th May 1928. The Football Club had moved into the ground in 1919. Plans were afoot for an alternative venue in the town and the last meeting was held on 17th October 1931. The site on which the former greyhound track once operated continues as the towns Football ground who have, once again, regained their Football League status.
